Board Member Popoy Del Rosario recently represented Gov. Joet Garcia as guest of honor in the opening of Jail Basic Recruit Course Training of 300 recruits held at Bataan District Jail (BDJ) in Orani, Bataan.
The governor was invited to the event by the National Jail Management and Penology Training Institute.
In his message, Del Rosario told recruits that they have the potential to make significant contribution in the prison management in the country and urged them to demonstrate compassion and empathy, and act as role model.
“Your role is not just about enforcing rules and regulations, but also about fostering a safe and respectful environment”, he told training participants.
“You are expected to maintain order and discipline, provide for the safety and security, and help prepare persons deprived of liberty for successful reentry into society, always strive to act in ethical and fair manner and with professionalism and integrity”, he also said.
He urged recruits to treat every person with dignity and respect, regardless of their past mistakes and stay true to the values of honesty and being fair with the others.
Del Rosario said the provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Garcia and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice Governor Cris Garcia are committed to support the training institute and the recruits.
